the ART scope recticle were used in this scope.ĪRT scope were used by ARMY M21(M14 sniper ver.) Redfield 3~9x is the scope used by the M14 in this mod.īut the crosshair of this M14 scope is also wrong. In practice the tombstone indicator would often delaminate, leaving shooter with no range estimation feature on the scope (hence the need for mil-dot reticle in late 1970s). The whole ranging process explained (and here - notice this is modern reproduction which includes additional ranging and BDC marks). USMC reticle contained a simple crosshair in the middle, range reference lines on the top (space between the lines equaling 18 inches on the target) and a so-called "tombstone" range indicator - this element would change it's appearance when zooming in or out. SOG:PF already has very nice Redfield scope model (it's used on M14), with only changes needed being colour (Redfields on M40 were anodized, giving it greenish-to-bronze tint, see here or here) and reticle. Anyone who has knowledge of the mil-dot (and Arma community is full of such weirdoes!) will be able to utilize this advantage against other players - advantage he wouldn't have in real-life. Mil-dot reticle (as introduced on Unertl scope) provides a much more advanced solution to both range estimation, and bullet-drop compensation, than any other 1960s scope, with only exception being Soviet PSO-1. This issue is important not only because of aesthethics, but also from gameplay perspective. 3D model and recticle are Unertl MST-100 sniper scopes.
